My Next Stamp

One stamp, one story at a time

I Let Instagram Pick Our Family Vacation… and it Got Competitive

Travel Stories · March 1, 2026

Welcome back to My Next Stamp, where I make bold travel decisions and occasionally allow the internet to influence them.

This time?

I handed over full vacation power to Instagram.

Yes. A whole family trip.

I posted four options and told everyone:“Whichever destination y’all choose is where we’re going. Choose wisely.” And then I sat back like this was a harmless little poll.

It was not harmless.

The Bracket

I gave y’all range.

Costa Rica – Waterfalls. Jungle. Hot springs. That “main character swinging through the rainforest” energy.

Vermont – Cozy brick streets. Snow-dusted charm. Maple syrup in places it has no business being.

Belize – Turquoise water so clear it feels fake. Golf carts. Reef snorkeling. “We live here now” vibes.

Ireland – Cliffs that look Photoshopped. Ancient ruins. Moody skies. Castles. History. Drama.

Four very different moods. Four very different packing lists.

The Early Favorite

For most of the poll, Belize was THAT girl.

She was leading confidently. Sun-kissed. Unbothered. Winning by a comfortable margin. I was mentally buying flowy dresses and planning boat days. I had already decided my hair would simply do whatever humidity required.

It felt settled.

It felt tropical.

It felt inevitable.

And Then…

My husband.

Without consulting campaign finance laws, he went to his own Instagram and told everyone to go vote for Ireland. Suddenly the votes started shifting. Slowly at first.

Then dramatically.

The cliffs were closing in on the Caribbean.

The Final Count

In the end, it came down to the slimmest margin.

Belize fought hard. But the winner — officially and dramatically — is…

Ireland.

Yes. We are going full moody skies, castles, and medieval energy. Honestly? I kind of love it.

Why This Is Actually Perfect

There’s something poetic about Ireland winning. It feels immersive. Storybook. A little unpredictable. The kind of place where you don’t just relax — you experience.

We’ll trade palm trees for rolling green hills.

Snorkeling for stone ruins.

Beach bars for cozy pubs.

And if I come back with 2,000 photos of cliffs, mind your business.

So here we come, Ireland. Get ready for itineraries, packing lists (pray for me — I like to pack light and Ireland does not respect that), and a full breakdown on My Next Stamp.

And to Belize…We’ll spin the block.
