If there’s one thing I’ve learned as a mom who loves to travel, it’s this: preparation is everything—but flexibility is your best friend.
Traveling internationally with an 8-month-old might sound overwhelming, but I’m here to show you it’s absolutely doable—and still joyful. This trip to Ireland is extra special for us, and I’ve learned a lot from previous travels (especially that one trip where I thought I was prepared… and wasn’t ).
So here’s exactly what I’m packing in my bag—and why.
1. Portable Kettle (Trust Me on This One)
Okay y’all… this is coming from experience.
When I traveled with my daughter to the Dominican Republic, we got to the hotel and realized—no kettle. Not even a microwave. And let me tell you, trying to wash bottles and heat them up without either? Stressful.
So this time, I’m not playing.
A portable kettle is a non-negotiable for me now. It gives me control, peace of mind, and makes feeding time so much easier.
Quick tip:
If you ever find yourself without one, use bottled water to mix formula and the coffee maker water to gently warm the bottle. Not ideal—but it works in a pinch.
2. My Go Pouch (Busy Mom Lifesaver)
As a busy mom, anything that simplifies my life instantly earns a spot in my bag.
My Go Pouch? A whole lifesaver.
It’s one pouch that holds all my essentials—and everything is TSA-approved. I’m talking toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion, floss, toilet seat liners, toilet paper, disinfectant wipes… all of it.
No last-minute Target runs. No forgetting the little things. It keeps me organized and stress-free, especially during travel days when things can already feel chaotic.

3. Lounge Access (Priority Pass + Venture X)
Listen… I need lounge access when I travel now. There’s no going back.
Having my Priority Pass and Venture X card completely changes the airport experience for me—especially as a mom.
It gives me a calm, clean space to:
- Sit and regroup before the flight
- Feed myself (because let’s not forget mom needs to eat too)
- Change diapers in a cleaner, less crowded bathroom
- And sometimes… just breathe for a second
In some lounges, I can even rest with my baby before boarding—and that alone is worth it.
4. Toys + iPad (Ms. Rachel Is Coming With Us )
Entertainment is key.
I’m bringing:
- Fidget spinning toys
- Chew toys (perfect for fruits like cucumbers or watermelon)
- And of course… the iPad/phone loaded with Ms. Rachel
- Will she watch it the whole flight? Probably not.
5. Will it save me at least once? Absolutely.Patience (Yes, I’m Packing This Too)
An 8-hour flight, landing in the morning… yeah, it’s going to be a long day.
And honestly? That’s okay.
I’m going into this trip reminding myself to slow down, give myself grace, and not stress over every little thing. Babies will baby. Schedules might shift. And that doesn’t mean the trip isn’t beautiful.
Patience is just as important as anything in my carry-on.
Final Thoughts
Traveling with a baby doesn’t mean the adventure stops—it just looks a little different.
For me, it’s about being prepared, staying flexible, and finding joy in the experience, even when things don’t go perfectly.
Because at the end of the day, these are the memories we’re creating—and they’re so worth it.
Motherhood is the greatest adventure. Let’s make the journey a little easier—and a lot more joyful.
